Family: Acanthaceae (Acanthus family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: May - September

Carolina Wild-petunia has the classic look of petunias we've seen in our gardens. Compared to Smooth Wild-petunia (Ruellia strepens), it has much hairier stems that sometimes appear to be almost gray. It also has almost stalkless flowers, and a broader woodland habitat range.
