Catawba Rhododendron is evergreen. Its flowers are rose-pink to lilac-purple with 10 stamens. Its large leaves are generally 1.5–2.5 times as long as wide, and are usually slightly rounded at their base (rarely broadly cuneate or slightly cordate) and obtuse at their apex.
