Mid-Atlantic bloom time: May - July

The lower lobes of Gray Beard-tongue's corolla project beyond the upper lobes. Its corolla is violet-to-purple, with the corolla throat open. The lower leaves often have stem-like attachements to the stem (like many plantains), and the upper leaves are more often sessile.
