Family: Saxifragaceae (Saxifrage family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: March - May

Like all of the species in the genus Micranthes, Early Saxifrage has basal leaves, with flowers borne in clusters on the top of leafless stems. It's leaves are oval to oblong, tapering to the base, and somewhat toothed. It prefers somewhat dry to dry habitats.
